Since most of our work is in an
area without ceiling, we “live and die” by the flow
of storm water. Water
flow has to be the very initial consideration to all of
our plans. In
addition to this, many of our renovation jobs stem from
the work of others who didn’t realize the fully
destructive force and impact of storm water.
Therefore many of our clients come
to us to solve existing water problems on their
properties. We
resolve these conflicts by providing proper grading,
surface, and sub-surface drainage solutions.
The best form of rainwater
control is to provide for it at the beginning—to allow
for its proper disposal and saturation during the
planning stages of the garden construction.
This is optimum but not always the case.
Many jobs whose drainage
allowances have been neglected require retrofitting
either with surface, sub-surface, or percolation drains.
Sometimes foundations waterproofing membranes has
been left off or have fallen prey to years of
degradation. Other
situations that have been overlooked might require the
introduction of sump pumps to mechanically remove
surface water from a low area.
In
whichever position you find yourself, John Strauss
Associates can provide the solution.
The degree of repair as well as the proximity of
the problem to its outlet will often times dictate the
cost of the repair.
